New here :-)
« on: December 15, 2010, 08:34:45 PM »
Hi there everyone!!! Happy Holidays!!! I am new to this site, a friend pointed me here and I figured that I would say hello.
Hope that everyone is holding up in this COLD weather that we have been having!!!! Oh yea guess I could let you know that I am from a tiny town in NC. I am the mom of 3 teenagers, that are driving me to drink LOL.
I have been dealing with bad knees since I was 16 (over 22 years now) I am getting myself prepared for another operation on my left knee (this makes 3 for that knee 10 altogether)
I have a great family and they try to support me but they just really do not understand what all I am going through. I try not to let it get me down but some days are harder than others.
Anyway i am headed home for the day and usually at home I dont get the chance to get on the computer, So i hope that i get to know some of my fellow knee people from here.
Yes I am the Crazy Horse Lady and I am proudly owned by 6 horses!!!

Hi there, and welcome.
Im very new here as well. Found this site whilst googling & checking up on knee issues.
i have recently been diagnosed with a grade 3-4 chondral lesion and will have surgery in Feb 2011 and i wanted to try and find out as much as i could. Have had previous surgery on shoulder issues but nothing on knees so have been trying to find out what to expect etc etc
Originally fell heavily on it playing baseball 3 years ago and have recently aggravated it. So time to have something done about it.
What problems have you had with yours?
Cold weather?  where abouts are you ? Im in Australia where summer is just kicking in so the days are quite warm............

Welcome! This is a great site and hopefully you'll both find a helpful and welcoming community here. I know that it's kept me sane since my knee injury in March.

CrazyHorseLady, what surgery are you having now? What have you had done to your knee in the past?

Trev67 - what are they doing to try and fix your lesion? There are a number of options for cartilage repair and I'm just curious as to which you're having.

Hope you both find this site a great source of information and support as you continue on your knee journeys!

Hi Snowy, specialist has recommended chondroplasty. Also noted was mild patellar tilt so not sure if he will touch anything there.
Thats actually a question for him when i see him next in Feb 2011. (Thats when im booked in to have the procedure)
I have read that sometimes with patellar tilts they perform a lateral release but not sure on how bad things have to be before they do that. Also unsure if they do partial / small releases for mild cases etc. Just want to ensure that i understand the various procedures that are done and if he is unsure, id rather him do it anyway to aviod 2nd and 3rd operations.
