knee strengthening exercises and general rehab

just would like abit of advice, i have for the past three weeks been attending the local gym re G.P. referral for fitness, re my multiple knee problems. I do about 30mins twice a week, using stationery bike, rowing machine and the treadmill.  I also use those leg extention(i think) machines and although they havent been loaded with weights, the one that makes you lift the bar up i find extremely difficult to do and my right knee tends to take more of the weight being the now stronger knee the other was injured (acl,mcl, gr4 athrtitis) and other bits??? just wondering should i be doing this?  i am seeing OS wed,so will mention this to him too?  Thanks for your  help

12.01.2011 scope ACL intact, chronoplasty and 2 x microfractures FMC and trochlear ,MRI over reported(knee not as bad as made out),   time and patience will tell:)
