Had my surgery today
« on: November 18, 2010, 03:25:41 AM »
I had my fulkerson, lateral release, and chondroplasty done this morning and so far so good.  I opted for the nerve block and it has been a life safer!  I did manage to fall earlier today, but that is because I was trying to use crutches instead of a walker.  I lost my balance and hit my head on the table.  My knee is bleeding a little, but the doctor is not worried.  I have my post op appointment in the morning and then start physical therapy tomorrow afternoon.

Glad to hear everything went well! Try not to fall anymore ;) Be very thankful for the nerve block, without it you probably would have lots of pain!

I just got back from my post op appointment and first physical therapy session.  Good news is that I didn't break anything or mess up the screws when I fell last night.  My knee is still bleeding a lot, but the doctor said that is normal with this surgery.  The first physical therapy session went pretty good.  I am in a lot of pain right now, but that is to be expected.  I will start using the CPM later tonight.  I am still using the ice machine and plexi pulse and will be until 07 December.

Overall, I think I am doing pretty good overall.  The doctor did say that I should make a complete recovery.

Small not so minor complication developed today.  I have been diagnosed with bilateral pnuemonia.  This is the same thing that happened 4 years ago when I had surgery.  After a long day in the ER, I am back home with oxygen and major antibiotics.

I swear I am never having surgery again!
