pain in femoral condyle?
« on: November 13, 2010, 06:02:54 PM »
I had some of my meniscus removed a few months ago, it all went well.  However, I'm getting similar sharp pains again, but this time it's on my femoral condyle on the same side that my meniscus tear was on.  It's not always painful, but it has been particularly painful today.  Any ideas of whether this is related to the meniscus?  I've tried to find some info on it and I can only find stuff on articular cartilage damage, I don't know whether I have this I've had no injury to cause this.

Hi-i don't know how you damaged your meniscus, but in many cases the forces that result in meniscal tears can damage the articular cartilage as well. That being said, i would figure that if you had an arthroscopy to repair your meniscus any articular cartilage damage would have been evident to your surgeon and addressed at that time. On the other hand stuff does get overlooked so i think its worth talking to your doctor about checking for the possibility that you have some kind of articular cartilage issue. Good luck!

Hi, thanks for the response! My meniscus tear was a degenerative one, a small one, but something that is likely to happen again so that's why I'm worried that I've damaged more cartilage.  The doctor that did the surgery was a different one to the one I had appointments with and I didn't see him after the surgery, but I'm sure anything would have been written down.  On the other hand, this pain I'm experiencing could just be the cold, haha.
