Yogi with ACL & MCL tear
« on: November 11, 2010, 06:23:11 PM »
Hi, is there anyone out there that practices yoga and went through an ACL tear and reconstructive surgery?  My MD has told me the movement going into surgery is the movement going out.  How long does this take and is it attainable?  I have an 8 year daily practice of yoga and meditation.  I am very flexible.  It is 2 weeks since injury, and I have exceptional movement for a typical situation but I am nowhere near the movement before injury.  Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

I have way more range of motion, both extension and flex, a couple of months after my aclr than I did before surgery. My surgery was 4 months after injury and I worked really hard on prehab. Your MDs opinion does not jive with my experience.

The real question is what does your os say, s/he is the expert and can evaluate your particular situation.
