Yes, a lateral release can be revised or redone as far as I know....but if you have instability and a subluxing knee a lateral release is the LAST thing you want doing again!!!!  :-\

You need to get some stability back in the knee, not create more. Have you seen a patella femoral specialist at all?

It has been said, "The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results." This is attributed to Albert Einstein, Benjamin Franklin, and Mark Twain depending on who you ask.

In this case, it's not important who said it, so long as someone said it. It is possible to have multiple lateral releases, in that tissue is cut, and then it can be cut more, and more, and on and on. But it's probably not the best thing to keep doing, especially when it didn't work the first time. If your doctor is suggesting another one, I would think it time for a new doctor. Just sayin'.

I had a lateral release back in 2000 and I always remember after the surgery the OS saying that it may need doing again in the future.
