Trashed Knee, Need Advice...
« on: May 20, 2011, 05:36:04 PM »
Hello All,
Quick history of my left knee:
1987-Total reconstruction after rupture of MCL, ACL, and PCL with meniscal tear (the 'ol Triad)
1989-Re-tore my ACL and this time, the LCL along with it.
1991-ACL ruptured again, with remaining Meniscus shredded.
These were all repaired surgically, MacIntosh, Modified, and Central Third.
Over the past 20 years, the bone on bone meshing and buildup of scar tissue has led to OA and terrible instability.
I've been warned to take care of it, as my next surgery is probably a replacement.
My OS has put me back in my brace (it's an old DonJoy Goldpoint) but it doesn't fit quite like it did years ago.
My question is...based on your experiences, what's the best knee brace out there for my situation? I don't play sports anymore, so there won't be any impact; I try to walk for exercise but even that's become uncomfortable to the point of knee swelling like grapefruit and seizing up.
I thank you in advance for any information you may provide.
