ACL Recon. - follow up schedule
« on: August 19, 2010, 03:48:35 PM »
Hi

Looking to learn from other peoples experience again...

I had ACL reconstruction and meniscus trim 10 days ago. I then had my follow up appointment with doctor today. Unfortunately I didnt see the surgeon but one of his colleagues (who I think was new). Everything was fine and now I've been given my next appointment for April 2011. This seems quite a long time away and just wondered if anyone could share their experience (particularly NHS) - what kind of follow up schedule did you have with the surgeon/clinic?

I had my aclr on the 19th July then had a follow up appointment with the surgeons regrestrar 3 weeks later, then the next appointment will be 3 months post op, so your appointment in April of next year seems to be pretty far away, I am also with the NHS
I hope this helps take care Tez

I had my ACLr on July 9th, followup at 11 days, and next appointment at approximately 2.5 months, then final appointment at 8 months if all goes well. I'm in Canada so it's a different system.

April does seem a long way away - it seems like you're missing one appointment, which would be the 2-3 month check that everything is okay. I thought these were pretty standard regardless of where you were, so it might be worth contacting the hospital to check.
