Hi, I'm not sure where to put this question, so I'll put it here.

Has anyone seen a physiatrist for their knee?

My surgeon thought I had a nerve sensitivity (RSD type thing) at 6 months post-op when my knee wasn't much better. Well, I got a second opinion and my symptoms don't really match my surgeon's diagnosis anymore. He (the 1st guy) had referred me to a physiatrist, but I couldn't get in for almost 3 months. My appt is in 2 weeks but I'm wondering if I should keep the appt since I have a new diagnosis of maltracking?

What do they do? How can they help me? My mom is worried all he will do is prescribe medicine.

Thanks

Hi there,

I live in Australia and the equivalent is probably a sports physician.

They tend to take more of a holistic approach and will use exercise as a big part of your rehab. They may have some other suggestions too.

It is worth going to one and see what they say.

They can also help manage your rehab better than a surgeon.
