Joint Distraction for Cartilage Regrowth
« on: July 21, 2010, 03:41:34 PM »
Has anyone heard of this external fixation brace that can help with cartilage regrowth?  Apparently it promotes cartilage healing by removing pressure on the knee.  According to these links, the results are promising.

I finally decided to have this done.  The frame went on in early June and off in early August.

Not feeling so great right now, but the surgeon said that I wouldn't start feeling better until February -- about 6 months out after they took the cage off.  And after a year he said I'd be really happy.

It wasn't terrible to have the cage on, with plenty of pain killers and support from my wonderful friends.  But boy when it finally came off I was so happy.

Quad still week since they stuck three huge pins into it.  Physical therapy 2x per week and home exercises.  Not fun, but it has to be done.

Has anyone else done this or considering it?
