Hello everybody,
I get a strange pain behind the left knee (I write behind since the pain is not in the knee joint itself) when I flex the knee joint fully.
Thereby it does not matter if I am putting weight on the knee (i.e. standing squatt) or sit down on the legs (i.e. with the buttocks on the feet) or sit and pull the foot into a half lotus position (i.e. yoga/meditation position).
The pain begin to occur sharply as of a specific degree of flexing (i.e. knee almost fully bent) and I got the a strong notion that something (I believe a tendon) is being squeezed thereby causing the pain.
The strange thing is that once I enter into the position where the pain begin, if I leave the knee joint fully (or nearly fullly) flexed (i.e. it is painful), after about 30 seconds the pain begin to diminish! After a few minutes remaining in a flexed position the pain is gone! When I extend (i.e. stretch) the knee again it is painful again but this passes quickly.
Except for this the knee is fully in order. I am mid-40's do sports 2-3 times a week (jogging, biking etc) with absolutlety no pain. I have this pain for 3-4 years already. I took a 3 month complete sports rest a while ago and it did not help (was hell to get rid of the belly afterwards though

)
I have been to a specialist who can not find anything and says that the knee is very stable (he could not get his mind off the knee joint I think).
Has anybody out there had this kind of strange symptoms? I have googled but not found anything.
Thanks in advance.
