Surgery date, FRIDAY, on my
« on: July 07, 2010, 04:14:55 AM »
For some reason it just hit me that this is really going to happen. I'm more than a little nervous.  Lets see, the bushes are trimmed, yard mowed (and lawn service hired for rest of the summer) hair cut tomorrow. Will make sure I've got food in the house, a clean house , laundry will be completed. What am I missing? Friday, yikes.  eagle

DVDs to keep you occupied? A big stack of library books? :)

I'm going under the knife on Friday too (ACL reconstruction) and I feel woefully unprepared! But then again I'm sure whatever doesn't get done in time will work out somehow. Reality hasn't quite hit for me yet - it doesn't really seem possible that this time in three days, it will all be over.

Best of luck!

Good luck to you also. I like how you said "woefully unprepared." That is a perfect description of what I'm feeling.  Part of mine nervousness is that the os just isn't certain what he will find or how he will proceed.  No matter what I'll have 3 holes from the scope and at least a 10 inch incision from the work he'll be doing on the side of the knee.  Won't be pretty - but watching me walk now isn't pretty so who cares!  I did load up my iTouch with music - I like to put the earbuds in and zone out after surgery and that helps.  Good luck.  eagle

Ice or gel packs to ice down the knee.  I had a polar care machine and if you do also, make sure you have someone that can do ice runs for you.  I have a PSP that kept me entertained.  Games and movies, I can even put music on it.  Good luck Friday.

There is nothing else I can think to do. But then again if I did think of it I'm too darned tired to do it! Will report in over the weekend. Hopefully this is a piece of cake. eagle
