Complex Medial Meniscus Tear
« on: July 03, 2010, 11:09:25 PM »
Hi, I am 28. Had ACL reconstruction 2 years ago - 3 weeks ago I was playing netball and the same knee totally went whilst jumping as I landed it twisted agonisingly was unable to move or feel my leg for hours. Got MRI results yesterday and found I have complex tear of 'Medial Meniscus' with cartilage loose by the Tibia preventing me from straightening my leg by a longshot!!

Having Arthroscopy immediately on Tuesday...OS said he will either trim and clean but quite likely that I will need a repair due to extent of tear.

I am quite scared about the recovery as I have a 2 year old and am a very impatient person!!!!
How often do you have Physio following the op? Is it just day surgery under GA?
The way I feel at the mo I dont ever want to play netball again, lost total confidence in my leg...will this ever come back? Recovering from the ACL took 9 months before I could play again dont think I have the mental strength to do it all again!

Appreciate any advice
