What should I be prepared for?

I am a 38 yr old female and was playing soccer on April 4, 2011 and came down crazy on my right leg after making a save.  X-Ray and CT the next day identified a Comminuted lateral tibial plateau fracture without significant depression.  I have been in a leg immobilizer and zero weight bearing for 5 weeks and will continue to be be until my appointment in 1 week.  I am in no pain and when I bend my knee it is really stiff, but not painful at all.  My Doc thought I would be walking by the end of this month. 

My questions are - how quickly can I expect to move from partial weight bearing, to full weight bearing?  And from full weight bearing to walking?

Welcome SoccerKnee - it sounds like you're doing great.  You might want to check out the section The specialist's office --> bone breaks around the knee , you'll find a lot of TPFers that hang out there.

Once I got the okay to WBAT I went from 2 crutches to 1 crutch in about a week and then another week to just a cane.  I used the cane for about a month while "out and about".
check with your doctor about ankle pumps and drawing the alphabet with your foot.  This really keeps the achilles and ankle flexed.  For many people (myself included) the most painful part of walking again was my ankle and foot.

8/12 out of hospital NWM
8/21 staples removed
9/18 OS appt - WBAT with crutches
10/10 - WBAT with cane
10/27 - back to work w/cane
12/26 - no cane, slight limp when tired
1/25/08 - released from PT, no limp
2/3/09 - Released by OS
