pain, burning right knee

I hope someone can give me a little advice. I have been working out for several years with some irritation to the right knee. I usually do app 5 cardio workouts a week. In the last two years the right knee is getting progressively worse. There is a small amount of swelling above the right patella, burning sensations under the right patella, numbness of tendons extending from the patella above and below the patella, and it feels like my bones are travelling over some kind of mass (bump) when I bend my leg more than 90 degrees. I'm a bit upset because the specialist cannot see me for another five months. I'm afraid that I may be doing more damage while I wait to see him. If anyone has advice I'd be happy to listen

It's really hard to advise in a situation like yours. Sounds like something's going on. Keep that appointment, maybe try and see if you can get in sooner on a cancellation.
Meanwhile, don't do the things that make it hurt - you know the deal - It hurts when I do "that", well, don't do "that".
Use the RICE treatment meanwhile, it's all you can do.
If it makes you more comfortable, a general purpose knee sleeve may give you a bit of support for the knee, and "remind" you to take it easy on the knee, while you wait for the appointment. Some people find that a general purpose support helps, others find it makes no difference. It's an individual thing.

It's hard to know what to tell you. But it seems obvious that if something hurts your knee, don't do it. I'm always amazed at the people who say that doing X bothers their knee, but they don't want to stop. Sometimes we just need to listen to our bodies and give them a rest! Good luck.

So ture!! Pain is a way that your body lets you know that something is not right. If the "bump/lump" you feel is something new, then pay close attention to it.
I agree with keeping the appointment and please be sure to call your specialist and ask to be placed on the waiting list in case of any cancellation.
Your knee is a very important part of your body. Having problems with it is not good. Take the advice of the people here- they are very kind and have been through these things and can give some great advice and insight if you have questions.
Let us know how thing progress!!
