Monday: had my preop surgical check. blood drawn for platelet count and a plan decided upon if the count is below 75,000 (hematologist and prednisone). To get results Thursday. Normal, btw, is between 150-300,000.
Wednesday: message on voice mail that the orthopedist needs okay for surgery from regular doctor about platelet count.
Thursday (today): LAST DAY OF WORK! HOORAY!!!!!
Have a 2:45PM appointment with the Physician's Assistant at the orthopedist office for another quick check up and to get pain pill prescription. CHeck my voice mail=no messages from the doctor about the platelet count so having got there early, I call the doctor's office from the parking lot and ask about the count. Heart sinks when the nurse says it's low. When I ask how low, she tells me 95,000 and I get so happy. That's a high count for me! So surgery is a go for this Tuesday!
Now to get everything ready!
