i believe it can be the opposite, alot of people are recluctent to do much after injuries and do less so end up with atrophy in both legs, thus causing pfs in a previously fine knee

remember glutes have a big influence in knee tracking etc

A tracking problem is wha comes to mind, but it could be a lesion on the lefc or the patella.  i hope it is just a little maltracking that can be put right with exercise and taping.  pre-op my right knee had some maltracking and taping really helped it   If I need another scope I don't know what I'll do because my right leg is just not ready for the strain, even if I have a good recovery my right knee is going to really suffer and I won't have a leg to stand on and all my good work will be undone.

Today it's still a bit sore but I'm seeing my gp today and I'm going to ask for an mri and I think an x-ray too.

GP say's it looks slightly effused and sent me for mri, so let's see how long it takes to get one this time.  It usually takes about 6 weeks just to get the letter.

Any blood tests suggested? Amazed that a GP requests an MRI for a slight effusion. You must have a great PCT! Hot and red knees = rheumatoid issues?  :-\

I had a blood test to rule out rheumatoid arthritis about a year ago.

I told her my left knee was really acting up and that it had been red a couple of times but not constantly.  She said it looked like I'd re-injured it as opposed to it just grumbling like it had been doing before.  when she felt the way it was clicking she could tell that all was not well mechanically.  On moving the knee she heard it make some spectacular pops and cracks that sounded like gunshots.

it's a bit red and hot now and it feels likeit is burning on borth medial and lateral sides.  The other leg; the operated one that feels better but not 100% is a little bit swollen as well but is still quite cool.

If the right knee gets worse I don't know what I'll do but I think I'd have to go to A and E if things get really bad.

I know it seem scommon for the other knee to suffer but is it unusual for it to be effused just becuase of over use or could there be something worse going on?  I suspect either a cartliage lesion or arthritis, but hope it is just maltracking.  I also would be surprised if there were plicas but I think I can live with them.

I'm keeping the temperature down with ice but I can feel more fluid in both knees.  There's a burning sensation even when there's no heat.  Every now and then I can feel a gentle throbbing in either knee, hwich I think means more swelling is on the way.

I just don't udnerstand what could cause such a flare-up, so maybe I will get a blood test because reheumatoid athritis would make sense.

Be careful...It is possible to over ice which will damage the skin causing redness and heat.

It's not been too warm today and it hasn't been red but its making some new noises  on flexion which are really nasty, plus it is harder to walk on.  The mri could take a long time on the NHS, but I'll get the pt to look at it on Monday.  I'm wondring if I should just see my os again privatly and get him to send me for them.

I thought you were of the view that MRIs didn't show anything anyway?  :-\

You can locate a mobile MRI scanner yourself if you're desperate for one - usually about 200-400 quid. Do a google.  :)

Has your GP prescribed a course of decent NSAIDs to help swelling?

I've got Diclofenac for swelling.

O don't have much faith in mris but might tell me if anything's changed or maybe it won't.  I'll be looking for a mobile one.
