Bone Bruise?
« on: March 17, 2010, 06:53:20 PM »
Hey all,

I hurt myself sometime in January playing Basketball where I hyperextended and twisted my knee.  I've had an X-Ray, MRI, and a CT scan.  The sports medicine doctor ruled out ACL injuries, fractures, and meniscus (he said there's a 90% chance i didn't tear it, as it didn't show up on the MRI).

They said I sprained my MCL, and have bone bruises on both my tibia and femur (I guess they hit each other), and have arthritis in my knee from overuse(i'm only 24, and it was never a problem before the injury.)  The only weird thing is, that my knee doesn't hurt during an activity, but after the fact, or after the dr takes a look at it.

Is this normal with bone bruises or has anyone else had these symptoms? The dr. said it was strange, and i'm worried i might be in the small percentage of people who hurt their meniscus and it's not showing up in the MRI.  how long do bone bruises take to heal?
