I hope I can get some encouragement/advice here.

Have Grade 3 Chondromalacia on right knee and I'm sure the left has it but I don't feel much pain on it unless I squat. Had chondroplasty to clean up excessive tears behind the kneecap in early December of last year.

My quad is basically dead. I have been going to PT religiously. I go to the gym. I go 30 minutes on the elipitical with high level resistance. SLRs, hip abductor machine, single leg presses (these hurt some), heel touches, balancing...I'm doing everything I can. I don't feel any kind of burn on the quad area but do feel it on my good bad leg when I work out. I get e-stim twice a week during PT.

How long does it normally take to get some kind of reaction? How do I know if it's working? I still have some swelling and knee pain and can't get up from a chair, get in the car, simple things like that. I am trying so hard but I am getting so discouraged.

How have you dealt with this? After how long did you finally see signs that your quad was reacting?
