Hi Milly,

I sure hope so too.

Feeling quite nervous about seeing my surgeon. Guess a fair bit hinges on whether I can have the impairment benefit assessments for the TAC.

Normally I would have said something but I didn't know her from a barged pole and felt very uncomfortable. Plus I had quite a bad anxiety attack and went in to shock. I always let my usual Pilates physio know.

Hope you are doing ok.

Hi Kirsty,

Really sorry that you may have a new knee problem after things where going so well for you. You seem to have bad luck all the time with your knee problems and having one problem after the another. I really hope it just a minor knee injury that does not require surgery, as you been through enough already!

Hi Nick,

Thanks for your kind words.

My knee surgeon agrees that I have a problem. He wants to see how I go in the gym. My surgeon really wants to avoid more surgery if we can help it.

It is soooo hard to keep going at times, but I have motivated enough to try and avoid more surgery.

Hi Kirsty,

It is always a good thing if your OS wants to avoid or prolong more surgery as you have been through a fair few already and it is not good for the poor old knee. Are you seeing your sports physician for advise and suggestions as I know you get on well with him.

Hi Nick,

Really glad my OS is wanting to avoid more surgery as much as possible. My sports physician is currently away but am seeing him on Thursday. It can't come soon enough.

I went to the gym Sunday week ago and my knee didn't respond well. Now I am back using my hinged brace and also crutches as well at times. It has been quite frustrating as everyone is away at the moment and my surgeon is about to go away. Very annoying !! Also getting pain in my tibia and the back of my knee. So, not sure what is going on.

Left a message for the physio I saw last Thursday as my own is away. Hopefully I will hear from him tomorrow.

I am also waiting to hear back from my surgeon's rooms. His staff are lovely. Feel bad for ringing them back, but his Scottish PA said not to worry and that it's ok. My surgeon rocks !

Hi kirsty,

Glad you are seeing your sports physician this Thursday, not so good news about you knee playing up after going to the gym and have to resort to a hinged brace and crutches at times. I can see why you are frustrated as you have had knee problems for a long time and never seems to come to an end for you.

Hope you having a good week so far despite the knees!

Hope things smooth back out for you and this is just the knee getting irritated too much.  Hope it settles.  Maybe your sports doc will have some helpful things to say.  If the brace and crutches help, then use them.  Don't rely on them, but let them get you through.

Just thought I would give a quick update.

Still having issues with my knee. My Sports Physician suggested using a walking stick when I need to. Initially I just laughed about it, but bought one last week and has really helped. Feel soooooo old though !!

I am going back to my surgeon on the 5th of December for some new scans and to see him about it. I have had a lot of trouble building up my muscle and been in a lot of pain too.

Just annoyed with the clinical Pilates place. They have a lot to answer for !

Hi Kirsty,

Really sorry that your knee is still not right and have to resort to using a walking stick. Your appointment with your OS is not too long to wait and hope it just an over use problem and do not need another scope, as you have had enough of them already.

Regards Nick.

Sorry the knee is not behaving.  It is really rough when our own vanity and pride stand in the way of some kind of relief.  I hated using a stick myself, so I looked a long time to find one I couild live with.  It has a carved dragon's head on it.  I now need a new one because it got dropped too much and the dragon is not hornless. lol  Also the head is loose and cannot be fixed.

Thanks, Nick and Milly.

It means a lot.

I just fear major surgery may be on the cards.

Today I saw my sports physician. He wants me to go on walks with my walking stick and to try hiring an exercise bike. To start off I am only to do one minute.

Feel like a Grandma !!!

Hi Kirsty,

Try not to think of the worst case scenario and try and enjoy the rest of the weekend. Work is not going great for me at the moment and considering changing career. I want to work with adults with AS that have broken the law and end up in court and make sure they do not end up in prison as its not the right place for them to be in. I went through it in 2005 during my breakdown and hate to see others with AS go through what I had to go through.

My psychologist thinks it a good idea and says they need people like me so looks promising. Fed up working on a golf course with early mornings during the weekend and working at 6am in the morning week days. Worked at the same golf club for over 12 years and would like a change. Also not great on the joints working outdoors all your working life.

Hope it is ok to post about myself on your thread as you always be so supportive during my high and lows. I also enjoy writting and would enjoy writting reports about my clients.

Nick  :) {2011} :)

Hi Nick,

Thanks for your support.

A career change sounds like a good idea.

My knee is just getting worse. Will ring my surgeon's rooms in the morning as my sports physician is away for a week.

Argh !!! Just want this crap over !

Kirsty - Hope the OS has some plan in mind for you.  All the pain and disability is just not fun is it? Sometimes feels like it is stealing your life.

Nick - A change of career sounds like a good idea.  Sounds like a lot of stress where you are.

Thanks, Milly. Today I just burst in to tears as it was just all too much. No, not fun at all.

I saw my GP tonight and just broke in to tears. She is going to try and get an urgent appointment. If not, she will speak to my surgeon.

Fingers crossed I get some answers tomorrow.
