Hi All,

Today I went out a few times. My Mum took me to the supermarket to help me with my shopping. Was exhausted at the end of it. Glad I had her help. Tomorrow I can drive. So, we'll see how that goes.

Tonight I went out to dinner with a friend, which was nice. By the time I got home my knee was really sore.

Thanks, Nick. Will get my sports physician and physio to look at my back. Still in a lot of pain with it.

Flavio, I do remember you. Feel free to email me at [email protected] Part of the reason I had my scope is that it wasn't healing as well as the trochleoplasty on my left knee. A lot of the pain since my surgery I had before the scope has gone. Love to know how you are doing.

Go back to work tomorrow. Not sure how my body is going to cope with it.

Hi Kirsty,

Sounds like you have had a busy weekend and nice that your Mum is helping you out. I also went out for a meal with my Mum on Saturday evening for a curry, which was a nice change. I know you get on well with your sports physician so may be able to help you out with the back pain.

Hi Nick,

Nice you went out for curry. I hear Birmingham is famous for its curry.

Work went ok yesterday, but ended up in a lot of pain last night and this morning. So, I rang my OS's rooms and has given me another week off. Hopefully I will be feeling a lot better by next Monday.

Going to physio in the morning, which I am quite glad about. My back has been pretty horrid too.

Maybe the PT will have some ideas for the back too.  Make sure you let them know it's bothering you as some of the knee exercises can affect your back.  Hope you are able to go back to work soon.

Hi Kirsty,

You should only go back to work when you feel up to it and maybe go back part time to start of with. I hope your physio can do something about your back pain and maybe you need to see an OS about the back pain, do you know of any decent back Specialists in Melbourne you can see!

Thanks, Milly and Nick.

It has been a pretty rough week. TAC are still being pricks and my Mum's cousin's daughter passed away at the age of 39 from MS. She has left a young family behind, which is really hard. At least my cousin doesn't have to suffer anymore. It is such a horrible disease and have helped treat patients with MS and similiar diseases.

TAC keep making mistakes, which means I constantly have to chase them up. Will have to chase them again on Monday as my pharmacist said they didn't pay for one of my medications they are supposed to pay for.

I saw my physio on Wednesday. He helped relieve my back and gave me some ideas.

Then on Thursday I saw my sports physician. He is pleased with my progress so far since the op. Apparently they had to shave an area near one of my nails. Will find out more when I see my surgeon next Thursday.

Hope you all have a good weekend.

Glad the PT could help your back a bit too.  Too bad about the TAC.  Seems like they should be more on top of things.  It's sad when you have to ride herd on things like that.  I mean honestly you are already in pain and having to deal with readjusting your whole life and then you have to keep tabs on them too.  Hope this week is better.

Hi Kirsty,

You seem to have endless trouble with the TAC who always seem to give you problems. Sorry to read about your Mum's cousin's daughter and it is an awful condition to have and never good when it happens at a young age leaving behind a family.

Glad your physio was able to reduce some of your back pain and appoinment with your sports physician went well. I am annoyed I cannot see Dr Brown earlier as my right knee become worse again as it was before my IMS sessions and a 7 week gap is far too long.

Hi Everyone,

I worked last night but hardly slept at all due to my back and knee pain. As soon as I went to bed I did my exercises and iced my knee. Just going to take a while to get used to work again I think.

Milly, I couldn't agree more about the TAC. It is insane I have to chase things so much. I have now just learned to pace myself and do a bit at a time. At least I have submitted all the pharmacy receipts and declaration for the back pay which I hope to get in the next week or so.

Nick, yeah it was very sad about my cousin. The funeral was today but I was unable to go as I was unwell. Lack of sleep and pain made me feel pretty horrible. As it turns out it was a good thing I didn't go as there were about 2000 people there. I am contemplating maybe getting some more physio this week. Will just see if my physio has some appointments. I am just so glad I don't have to rely on a system like the NHS. I never did in the UK and at least I could get treatment straight away.

Hi Kirsty,

Just as well you did not go to the funeral as it would have been very cramped and packed and she got a good send off with so many people attending and said was around 2000 people at her funeral. It would have been stressful and I am sure her Family understand why you could not make it.

I am going to a funeral next week Monday to pay my respects this really nice guy in his 80s, who I have known for around 22 years who lived at a house across the road from me in a Hostel for people with mental health problems that I stayed at during my breakdown. The service is at 10:30am and should get time off work even my Boss would not be that harsh by not letting me attend the funeral so should not be a problem having time off work. He died in hospital in his sleep peacefully and is the way I would like to go.

Sorry you are unable to get much sleep and are still having problems with TAC, which has been a problem when I started to post in your other thread when you became a member of KG.

Hi Everyone,

Seeing my surgeon in the morning for my first post-op follow up since my chrondroplasty. Will be interested to see what he has to say and how bad my arthritis is now.

Tonight I made Rogan Josh for my brother and I plus some vegies. Tasted really nice. My brother enjoyed it too.

I tried to get in to see my physio tomorrow as my pain is really bad at the moment. The only time he had is when I am seeing my knee surgeon. So, I changed my appointment to see him on Monday. Been doing everthing he has suggested. Also left a message for my sports physician to ring me as he has no appointments either until next week. Hopefully I can start dry needling or acupuncture to help. Probably doesn't help that I am having to do a lot of paper work at the moment for TAC.

Nick, sorry to hear about the loss of your friend. Was he ill ? Glad I didn't go to the funeral for my cousin as I probably would have ended up in more pain plus I could have easily been knocked over. Will give my cousin's Mum a call in the next few days. Mum put in an apology for me. Yeah, the TAC has been a problem for a while. Sent in a complaint today about the time they are taking to make a decision about my loss of earnings capacity. If I don't get a response or am not satisfied then I will go to the Victorian Ombudsman. Next I have to get evidence together to contest them not paying for Occupational Therapy Services. It seems like s never ending process. Also need to find out what is happening about the clinical pilates request.

Will post sometime tomorrow after I have seen my surgeon.

I had to look up what that dish was; sounds really good.  Unfortunatly I still have a couple of fussy eaters at home so trying new stuff can be a hassle.

What a mess with all the paperwork.  If you didn't try though they would have written it off long ago.

I hope that between the OS, your sports med doc and the PT they can do something to ease the pain.

Hi Kirsty,

Chicken Tikka Masala is the most popular curry in the UK and Birmingham has hundreds of curry houses across the City. If you ever visit the UK I can take you to a very good Indian Restaurant by my Flat that I have been going to since the late 80s and the staff know my mum, family and myself very well, as we come so regular. I think Rogan Josh has a lot of tomatos in it and is medium hot and tried it a few times and tastes really nice.

My friends funeral is on Friday 1st April and should have no problems taking time away from work that day. He lived to a good age of 83 and were not really close but did meet up a couple of times a year so know him fairly well. He died in his sleep at the Hospital after he had a heart attack and never really recovered from it and died in his sleep peacefully.

From what I have read on your FB status appointment went well with your OS and look forward to see how you got on when you next post on your thread. Good luck when you see your physio on Monday and hope he can ease some of the pain for you.

Nick :) {2011} :)

Hi Everyone,

This is the first chance I've had to update on my appointment with my surgeon. Worked last night and before that I tutored one of my students. Ended up having to go straight to work as I was delayed getting to my tutoring as there was a big accident on the way.

My surgeon was really happy with my progress. All the damage was under my patella and thinks that should fix the problem. It certainly feels a lot better. Next week he wants me to work half days and then back to normal hours the week after that. I can start back at the gym and clinical pilates the week after next. Just got to take things slowly. I go back to see him in three months time.

Thought the dish I made was Rogan Josh but it was actually Tandoori Curry. Was yummy all the same.

Yesterday I spoke to my sports physician and made a suggestion of having one of my strong painkillers through the day to help my pain at night. So far it's working except for my knee. I forgot to take my Cryocuff to work last night so my knee kept me awake most of the night. I am having more physio on Monday. So, hopefully that should help.

Today I went to the bank and supermarket. That was enough to tire my knee out. When I got home my knee was very sore and swollen. So, I iced it and rested for over an hour. The ice definitely makes a difference.

Milly, yeah the TAC are unbelievable. They sent me paper work my pharmacist had sent to them. I spoke with my case manager today and said to send it back with it note saying I wasn't claiming it, but my pharmacist was. I have been under a lot of stress lately. So, that's why my pain may have been bad in addition to having to spend a lot of time putting the paper work together for TAC.

Nick, love to visit Birmingham again. When my Dad's cousin lived there I visited them. We didn't go out for curry though. Love the canals in Birmingham. Sorry you can't get an earlier appointment with Dr Brown. Glad I am seeing my own next week.
