PFS, would leggings have helped
« on: February 10, 2010, 08:37:02 AM »
Well i am 3 weeks post op plica removal and i have slight maltracking patellofemoral joint. i developed pain in the knee after plying lots of football. i am wondering if trying compression shorts or leggings to keep my quads and hamstrings warm would have helped on the pitch and maybe in the future. any thoughts?

Hi there,

I'm not sure if compression shorts or leggings would help with maltracking, doubt it to be honest, but you would probably benefit from a good knee brace specifically designed to help with maltracking kneecaps like a Donjoy, although there are loads of different ones out there.  Look into what different types of braces are available and which would be best suited for maltracking issues.  You could also try McConnel taping, you would be best getting a qualified physio to show you how to tape properly as if you do it incorrectly it can cause more damage than good.
