« on: December 14, 2009, 02:36:15 AM »
Anyone else have knee problems now because of a bad ankle injury years ago?

I have walked with a limp for years and I think it has affected both knees.

thanks

I have had kneeproblems all my life but never had ankle injury, untill I severely rolled/broke my ankle sept 2007. Dunno if it is a result of my kneeproblems, as I injured it whilst playing badminton. Since then I broke it once again in the same place when I was a keeper in an indoor soccer match and stopped a ball. Now I have a big problem because the fracture doesn't heal, the piece I broke off is still loose. Causes a lot of pain, and I had Xrays an echo and see my OS Jan 5th.

So in my case knees where bad first and I cannot tell if the ankle injury is related to the knees, but really I don't think so.

I have a bad ankle.  Not sure its at all connected to my knees.  I injured my right ankle 11 years ago and it never healed after that.  After 11 years I reinjured it this summer and the problem was finally discovered.  I has ankle surgery in September and things are going good for me now.

What kind of knee problems do you have?

I fractured my ankle 20 years ago in the military and they thought it was a bad sprain.  The swelling did not go down for weeks.  They finally x-rayed it 8 weeks later and realized that it was fractured.  They finally put it in a cast and it healed------but I have had major problems with it since then.  I walk with a limp and it has effected both knees from trying to compensate for the pain.  My ortho doctor said both knees will have to be replaced in the near future.

thanks
