a good post op brace???
« on: November 25, 2009, 06:21:42 PM »
hi all,
i am going in for my 4th knee op on dec 3rd, and my pt has said that it would be best if i braced it post op. i am getting diagnostic keyhole surgery and if there is anything found that can be sorted it will be done then. the reason for the brace is because in the early stages of my last 2 ops i have either twisted or bashed my knee and it has caused problems. i was looking at the mcdavid 427 hinged brace.
has anyone used this brace or can anyone recommend another brace for under 100.
cheers owen

If your doctor doesn't tell you to wear a brace then don't wear a brace. I would be worried about a PT that told you that. They should not be giving you post-op directions that have nothing to do with PT. Bracing for a simple diagnostic scope is a bad idea and not necessary. It will cause your muscles to weaken and your knee to stiffen up. This is exactly what you DON'T want.
