true or false info bout exercise??

I may be on the wrong board ::)
The question  is about exercise

In 04 I did PT for a tpf. Three months nwb= no quad.  07 quad strength--pretty good. Not as good as the good leg--never quite the same size.
Did spin and worked out with a trainer for three years. Worked hard on lower body but also all around body routines.
Beteen 07 till tkr--decreasing quad --bone on bone pain--decreasing "life" on the leg but better than nwb!!!

TKR 9-14-09.
Working in PT and the gym. Almost the same exercise routine. I have been told that regaining quad strength will be much harder than the first time around --because of the atrophy of the quad in 04.

True or false.  I'll even take opinions  ;D
Of course I want that to be false  --I work very very hard.  :P But Im for the hard facts.
