Knee Problems
« on: October 03, 2009, 07:08:35 PM »
I've been having knee problems for quite a while now and recenty I've been usiing a knee strap which is usually used for jumpers knee with quite abit of success. I just wondered if anyone knew what the problem could be. I get pain to the outside of the leg just below the kneecap ..I thought jumpers knee is only attributed to the centre of the knee?. Its worse whenever I start to do a fair bit of running or if I put weight on my leg at wha could be considered an odd angle. Any hep would be appreciated.

Below the kneecap sounds to me like a meniscus problem.

I'd get it checked out by an orthopedic surgeon before you do irreparable damage.

It could be meniscus, but lateral and below the kneecap may just be your IT band. That's what I'd put my money on. Go see hour primary care doc. Some are pretty good with this kind of stuff. I'd work on some IT band stretches and use some antiinflammatories if you want to work on it a little on your own.
