Finally had knee surgery (graphic pics)
« on: September 01, 2009, 10:56:40 PM »
Thanks to those who told me what to expect. I had my PKR I was in the hospital for 3 days, I had excellent pain control.
I was up and walking with assistance the next day, this coming Thursday will be 10 days post op.

My last surgery when I had the unispacer put into my knee I was in a recliner at home for 2 weeks with no therapy
and lived for pat the past 3 1/2 yrs in pain

Now this time around it is so much different, my physical therapist comes to my home, when I first came home he came 5 days a week
now it is down to 2 days a week.

I am very happy this time around, I am still swollen and in pain but nothing like I was years ago.

The thing that is bothering me the most is the staples, I get them out this week, I have a lot of stinging pain there.

I am being told I am doing excellent in my recovery.

I want to thank those who told me what to expect, I was not as nervous this time around

These pictures were taken 5 days post op

Wow, great progress. PT at home must truly be a blessing!!!!!!

I have a scar like that on my L knee, from years ago, and my recovery was ridiculously long & painful. And like mollyc, my R knee has an ACL scar set that is hiding in shame ;) Be proud of your battle scars!!!

your scar looks like the one I have after my realignment surgery was done 2 years ago.  Yea, those staples are nasty.  I was so glad to get them out and I too had lots of stinging.

I got my staples out today  :) I doesn't feel as tight as it did
I'm only at a 90 degree angle and he would like it to see it bend more, so the physical therapist comes 3 times a week now

I forgot to ask about water therapy, I heard it is better for you?

I also got a handicap thingy for my car, it is for 5yrs, I wonder why it is for that long???

yes, I am proud of my scar lol
