Hello. I recently heard results from an MRI, and they revealed a "microfracture." At first I thought this was good news, as my doctor, pre-MRI, suspected a torn ACL. However, I've been able to find out very little about microfractures, except about microfracture surgery, which isn't what I had done. The MRI revealed this as a result of a basketball injury.

I was only able to talk to the nurse over the phone (am trying to re-schedule for a consult), and she merely said, "Proceed as pain allows, and if you're still having problems in 4 weeks come back in." Well, it's been just over 4 weeks and I've felt very little improvement.

Has anyone else had a similar experience, or have any information about recovery?

Thank you!

Maybe he means a stress fracture--that is also called a hairline fracture, not all the way through the bone like a "real" fracture.
