can't bend knee for 3 days after jumping or sprinting
« on: February 02, 2018, 03:08:43 PM »
So I tore my patella about 8 years ago. Rehabbed fine, and was back to playing all the sports I've always played. About 6 months ago I played basketball and went home and noticed my knee was stiff and sore. I woke up the next day and my knee felt weak and I couldn't straighten my leg. For 3 days it was like this but by the 4th day it was back allowing me to bend it as normal but still felt weak but no pain. So then I tried to jump or sprint and it hurt, so I rested an stopped playing sports for 2 weeks. After the 2 weeks, I began doing simple exercises I learned when I rehabbed from the initial surgery. I did those workouts for another 2 weeks. Then after that I tried to jump and sprint again, and it was sore all over again. The next day I had trouble bending it again. So this has been going on for awhile now, where I try to jump or sprint, it hurts, I sit out a month or longer, try to jump and still have the same issues. I had an MRI, and went to my doc, and he doesn't see anything wrong in the MRI. So now i'm just confused as to what the issue could be and how can I fix it???

Go see a Physio with knee expertise. If they think thereís a definitive issue other than overuse or a strain, get a second knee specialist or Sports physician opinion

In the meantime stop trying to jump and sprint! Try something non impact like swimming or cycling for fitness. You could be doing much more damage or just not letting it heal. Itís about rest to recover not just rehab

Did you have the patella tendon (you canít tear the patella itself?) surgically repaired?

Look in the patella primer in the learning portfolio
at the patella femoral syndrome page and see if that matched your symptoms for example
Came off bike onto concrete 9/9/09
LK arthroscopy 8/2/10
2nd scope on 16/12/10
RK arthroscopy on 5/2/15
Lateral meniscus trim, excision of hoffa's fat pad, chondral stabilisation
LK scope 10.1.19 medial menisectomy, trochlea microfracture, general tidy up
