Unreasonable Expectations for Meniscus?
« on: May 19, 2009, 03:07:44 PM »
Hi all!

I have a tear in my lateral meniscus which will require arthroscopy to cut off the tear. My MD here in Manhattan is advising 4-6 weeks before I can get back to my athletic routine of running, etc. From what I have read here that seems like a pretty aggressive time frame.

I am trying to decide whether to have the surgery in a couple of weeks or bear the pain until the summer is over. I don't want to lose the summer and if I elect to wait for surgery I can take the pain and run, play golf and do all my normal activities. If its really a 6 week recovery though I would want to do it asap and still have the majority of the summer.

Thoughts?
