What happens to the ACL during/after TKR?

Hi,

I'm still learning about knees and have just been examining the Right Knee architecture diagram on this site. I've just had a TKR and I'm curious to know what happens to the ACL when the OS chops off the end of the femur and the end of the tibia. Is it replaced artificially or do we manage without it?

I'd appreciate a heads up on this.

The ACL is sacrificed.  Most prostheses have a posterior-stabilizing post that inhibits anterior-posterior translation of the joint.
