swelling for two months
« on: April 15, 2009, 06:32:29 AM »
I play ice hockey and went sliding on my knees into the end boards about two months ago.  My shin pad slid down and the top of my left knee basically took the entire blow.  It was really swollen and very bruised for close to two weeks.  There was a lot of stiffness and pain in it.  After those two weeks though it the bruise was completely gone and swelling barely noticeable.  I then went for a run and felt discomfort at the end (1.5 mile run) and it's been swollen ever since.  I let it go for a couple more weeks but I have been icing and taking ibuprofen consistently for the past month.  My roommate is an athletic trainer and he took a look, saying it was a swollen fatty patch/bustis and just to keep icing and such.  I stopped the ibuprophen since it doesn't seem to be doing anything and I'm not a fan of aspirin etc.  I'm going to a doctor in a few days but I'm wondering if anyone's got any further ideas what it is or how I can make it better!
