has anyone had metal left in their knee from surgery

I need help in finding out if having the tiny piece of metal from knee removed which is in my patella tendon is going to cause me more damage than leaving it where it is.
My surgeon thinks it shold be left but its because thinkd he could cause more damage or he is not wanting to treat a cock up from another surgeon. i live in uk and i dont know any surgeons who deal with complicated cases any help welcome. The tendonitis is a nightmare cant jog or do much exercise as ut flairs up.

I'm not sure I completely understand.  I have some metal "markers" that were left in the leg where the surgery was.  They were left to obviously mark exactly where the cyst was at prior to being removed.  What type of metal is in your leg?  (And by the way I don't like these being in my body at all - when I have the next surgery I'm asking if they can't be removed.  Its just a personal thing for me.)eagle
