Hello all, My 12 year old son had x-rays that show his patella is made out of two pieces , a large one and a small one (10% of total size) connected with cartilge. Sounds better than a cracked Patella (What we suspected when he fell and was in pain when playing sports). Doc wants to remove the small piece alltogether, claims it is a developmental deformity. I could not find any advice online about such a deformity or the stats about treating it with surgery on a 12 year old boy. Can anyone point me to some resources so I can make a better informed decision? Many Thanks.
