patellar osteochondral allograft? Any info?
« on: December 19, 2008, 05:23:48 PM »
I was wondering if anybody had any information on the outcome of patellar osteochondral allografts.  I have had three knee surgeries due to a patellar subluxation resulting in a fracture to my patella and articular cartilage damage to the patella as well.  The first surgery was just to pin the knee cap back together and I also had a lateral release and a VMO advancement.  The second surgery I had a repeat lateral release and a fulkerson (TTT).  The third surgery was removing scar tissue, chondroplasty, and removal of the screws from the fulkerson.  I have recently have had an mri and ct scans showing that I have a large defect in the patella articular cartilage.  My surgeon has also noted that my tracking is still not where he would like and he recommends having a repeat TTT as well as a patallar articular allograft.  I am only 22 so having any kind of metal parts or partial knee replacements are basically a last resort.  Any advice would certainly be appreciated  :)
