effusion or arthrofibrosis??
« on: December 19, 2008, 07:36:14 AM »
is there anyway of distinguishing between 'normal' effusion & arthofibrosis? and has anyone had the experience of an aspiration reducing swelling above the patella?

i'm 23 days post-op after a double bundle acl procedure in right knee. my surgery was performed in thailand and i came back to bangladesh 10 days post-op.

i have a band of spongy tissue going from left to right above my patella. i think it has been there since the procedure but i only took notice of it 5 days ago, when in the morning i could not do my straight leg raises because of sharp pain. with continuous RICE for last 3 days & etoricoxib (90mg x 1 daily) for last 2, i can again manage the leg raises albeit with a sharp pain at a certain angle.

my kneeguru reading has made me worried that it may be arthrofibrosis, although over email my surgeon suggested showing a local specialist & perhaps an aspiration.
