Erin, as a result of the ministrations of a notorious order of female religious my natural left handed tendencies were kerbed.  I was ambidextrous for most of my youth but am now right dominant.

I am waiting to see whether I live nine years less than the national average for right handers (as lefties do) or only four and a half as a result of my conversion! ;)

I am a right hander (have been trying for 8 yrs since I wrecked my right arm to become a left but it just wont happen <AHHHHHHH>

(but my Mum was ambidexterous (for the same reason as Ross, except it wasn't the religeous persons mentioned, it was teachers at school), my brother is a left, and my sister is a righty but eats left handed (WEIRD)).

I'm another ampedextrous one. Although I do write predominantly with my right I can write pretty well with my left if I had too, and most other things I can do equally as well with either hand.

Interesting thread idea Erin.  :)

Hey everyone-

I am naturally right handed, but due to the surgeries on my right wrist and months spent in full length casts, I have learned to do much with my left hand.  Even though my wrist is pretty good now, I still continue to do about half of stuff with my right and half with my left.

Wow so far it seems like the majority of you all are right handed, either naturally or by other forces ;)
I went to a private grade school, and I think there were only about 5 left handed people out of 40 in my grade, so I guess its still not as common.  :D
I jsut like to be different..haha

I'm a lefty, however I play certain sports with my right hand - like Tennis.  Here's something strange: my mom and dad are both right handed as is everyone else in my family, but my two sisters and I are all left handed.  Not to mention they are 13 and 11 years older than I am!

Righty.  No special story...just natural right handed, write, throw, bat, shoot, etc. right handed.  I can't do ANYTHING specific activity-wise with my left hand except catch baseball/softball w/ a baseball glove.  There's no way I can write left handed though, that'd be terrible for me.

Hi!

I am a righty--no story to that, just a fact.

Of my family....Matthew (my oldest--21) and my girls (Megan, 15 and Marissa, 8) are all three lefties.

Micah, my youngest, is fun to watch--when he eats plays, etc....he is undoubtedly a righty.  Yet, when we work on writing fun--his name and numbers and the lot for a kindergartener, he does sometimes try to hold the writing tool in his left hand and seems to get confused.

I'm so glad that the days of abusing students into being right handed are gone.  The links to brain side dominance and handedness are so powerful.  I really see it with my oldest--he is so right brain dominated in all that he does and that is his strength.  (creativity, flexibility, circular thinking, talent in arts...)

Interesting question--we have so many like me--left brained, right handed--analytical, sequential thinkers...Sylvia
