What do I eat while I'm injured?
« on: December 02, 2008, 08:36:47 AM »
Hello everyone, I don't know if this would be the best place to post this but I'm going to try anyway.

I've recently found out that due to my knee injury (torn MCL) I can't do any running or biking for a long time, 4 months at least. I figure I'll still lift weights for my upper body since that's better than nothing but I've always relied on working out (running mostly) as keeping me conditioned and healthy. Now I don't know what I'm going to do. I've noticed my metabolism is slowing down as well.

Should I just eat as healthy as possible?

Or should I try one of those diets where you eat every two hours to keep your metabolism going?

Both?

I'd just like some feedback on anyone's preferences and personal experiences.  :) Thanks! Happy Healing!

Yes, this is true whether you have a knee injury or not. You'll probably have to reduce  your calorie intake somewhat if you're not moving as much.

The basic answer is yes, you should eat healthy.  Since your not doing lower body I would reduce my total calorie intake slightly.  What I would do, and personally do, is eat more protein.  That keeps the metabolism working but more importantly it aid in your body working efficiently.  Also when consuming more protein then you don't eat the carbs that none of us need.  eagle
