dislocated knee (more than once)
« on: November 12, 2008, 11:12:30 PM »
I'm not sure if this is a big problem but a few months ago i dislocated my knee when i knocked it against a table. It was really painful but knocked back in place almost straight away. A few days ago exactly the same thing happened. Only this time i am left with some after pain and my leg does not seem too stable. any advice about seeking medical care or just home care?

seek medical attention, your knee is too important to leave
5-3-07 injured knee-no ROM

if it continues to be a problem there are things they can do to keep that in place maybe something as simple as taping it...then focusing on strenthing the hamstring and quad to help hold it in place so its always best to get things checked out before long term problems begin.

Hi there,
now that you have done this a couple times your ligaments are stretched out and this will make your knee more likely to do this again and again.  Because of the patella sliding out and over the end of the femur it runs the risk of chipping off a piece of bone.  This "loose body" will need to be removed arthroscopically because it will cause you pain, locking and maybe more damage.....as you can see I definitely think you need to see a OS to rule out damage and address why this is happening.  Good luck, don't wait, this is not something you want to mess with.
