My 6 yr old has never EVER seen me walk striaght  I have been through doctors just like undewear I want some relief I can't go on like this.

I'm sorry your in such pain and this is the place to vent, I'd guess we've all done it.  Some, myself, several times.  When the os said there was nothing "he could do" does that mean that someone else might have an idea as what to do?  Were you asking specific questions about your knee or general?  Sometimes os's don't want to admit they have no idea whats going on but if I were you I'd keep asking questions of different os's until someone could/would explain why nothing can be done for you.  In times like these its easy to want a "quick fix" to a problem when maybe there are several small things you could do to help relieve pain.  Be your own best representative and start making calls to os's as see what you can turn up.  Hang in there.  eagle

It sounds like you need a specialist in arthrofibrosis. There are a number of posts on the board, do a search and perhaps start corresponding with others who have it/had it.
Sorry to hear of your troubles, and best healing wishes to reach your dream of walking straight.

If you have a terrific GP like I do, I would go to him and ask for a referral of a specialist in the field of arthrofibrosis. GP's tend to listen better then OS's. I was a in a fix just like this and after one knee revision my OS was so stumpted he wanted to do an arthrodesis on me as my problem was out of his expertise in knowing what to do. I got so frustrated that I made an appointment with my GP and he set me up with a knee specialist and the knee can be fixed. It is going to be more complicated because all the hardware needs to come out and he has to start over, but he said my problem can be fixed. For the first time in three years I'm encouraged. . You didn't mention what kind of knee surgery you had. I myself have had 6 knee surgeries and 2 back surgeries in three years. There are many others here who have had more. Somewhere out there is a doctor who cares and will help you, just keep looking and don't give up.

Thanks so much!!!  I actually have found a doctor in Columbus, GA Dr. Fred Flandry.  I am actually kind of excited but I am not going to get my hopes up to quickly!  :)  But my appt is in Dec and I am PRAYING that he can tell me something.  And yes Dr. "X" told me that I needed to go back to the last surgeon who did my surgery, but that man was such a buttmunch I don't think I could stand it!  Plus he had such a raggedy bedside manner and after going thru so much I just can't take crying again and that is what I do when this dude talks to me well excuse me AT me.  Anyway, to those who replied thank you!  It is such a comfort to know that there are people out there in other parts of the world who share my pain and they understand that it takes much more than just a pain pill and physical therapy!  :o

Hi there.  I cannot even begin to give advice on your knee but I can commiserate with having a young child while coping with these issues.  I have two sons, 7 and 3 and I think they have a pretty good idea that one of mommy's legs is different from the other and sometimes it hurts. But I also think that as long as they get the love that they need, and they do, they don't care one bit.  All your son wants is you.  I know you want to be able to run around with him and it is crap that you have limitations but that's as far as it goes.  You do have something going for  you that I don't often see on this board. And that's humor. I can't remember the last time I heard the word "buttmunch" - must have been sometime in the 80's. Good luck with everything and please post again.
Fondly,
D

Call the Atlanta Sports Medicine & Orthopaedic Center. There are many OUTSTANDING doctors there.
Dr. Scott Gillogly is even listed on this website. On this homepage, click INFORMATION HUB. On the righthand side, under GENERAL INFORMATION click on KNEE SURGEONS. then KNEE SURGEONS IN NORTH AMERICA.
Click on SURGEONS IN GEORGIA. There you will find Scott's name.

My progress has been admittedly slow, but this group is excellent. They work with a lot of the pro athletes on Atlanta sports teams. If they cannot help you they can probably steer you in a good direction.

good luck

Dear Konig
You are doing well; seeking out resources and answers.
You are right don't go back to the buttmunch doctor (I never heard that) because trust is a critical component. Even if he/she said they could fix it for free, you wouldn't trust him/her, right?

Sounds like you are on your way to more information so you can make an informed decision. Well done. Let us know how you go. Best wishes.
