4th Knee surgery
« on: November 09, 2008, 05:02:07 PM »
I will be having my 4th surgery in 2 years on Nov 18th. It is a Distal Femoral Osteotomy. In Lamens term they will cut my bones and place my leg back into it's original position. I am very nervous about the procedure. I think I am feeling depressed just knowing I will be on crutches for another 6-9 weeks. I would love to hear from someone who has gone through something similar to this or even some words of encouragement.

Disco, I had my 3rd knee surgery in 11 months in September-a partial knee replacement. I finally am beginning to feel human again. It seemed like I finally got my crutches upstairs to the attic from the FEbruary surgery when I started thinking about having the replacement because my other knee was so painful. My history is below my signature!
It does get better! Hoping you have a good recuperation this next time and hopefully that will be the end of the surgery for you for a while!

By now, your surgery should be behind you; I trust things went well and you are on the road to recovery.  I also suffered an injury that has been very difficult to fix.  i actually had 5 surgeries in 18 months. I am now 7 months out from a Fulkerson Osteotomy.  I understand completely how you feel and how afraid you are. It does get better! I hope you start a diary in the post-op section; I'll look for you there!
