I have never before had surgery or a broken bone of any kind and never spent a night in the hospital. That all changed this past Fiday. I am a 44 year old male and was out dirt bike riding in the mountai but i did not ns. I slammed my fully extended and locked leg/foot into a rock at about 15 mph. It hurt, but i thought it was jsut a sprain. After a 20 minute ride back to the trucks and a 1 hour ride to the hospital it was locked in 90 degree position at the knee. I could not beleieve the X-ray....mutiple cracks and broken away bone on the tibia. THe ER doc said surgery NOW and 3 months recovery.....I ws devistated.
I had surgery Saturday morning. The OS said I exploded by Tibia, but it could have been worse. I have 2 pins, 1 screw and 1 plate in my left knee now. Taking Hydrocodone (2 every 3 - 4 hours as needed). The pain is not that bad currently. THe Xray was the worst so far. I decscribe my situation/pain level as uncomfortable now. Hard to get comfortable to rest or sleep. Pills make me a little nauseous for 30 minutes after I take each dose. THe brace is very uncomfortable behind my thigh and calf, causing more pain than the knee injury
Doctor says I start PT on 10th day....so that will be next Tuesday after my first OS office appointment. Reading what to expect on this forum next.
