Fractured Patella Newbie
« on: October 31, 2008, 03:18:10 PM »
HI Guys

I fractured my patella in 5 pieces 9 weeks ago, I had surgery with wiring and 2 screws and wore a cricket splint for a fortnight then a ROM brace for the next 6.  When it came off I could bend my leg 90 degrees.  I am now walking without crutches and without a limp if I walk slowly however I am a Police Officer and am desperate to know when I will be able to return to full  duties.  I am back to desk duties 4 horus a day as of this week.  I have a full leg lift and am going to the Police Convalescent home in 3 weeks for intense physio.  When is it likely I could run again as this would determine me getting back to work.  Any advice and help would be gratefully received.

Hi Pinkpams,

Take your time and listen to your knee and physio.  I'm a special constable and also need to run before I can go back on duty.  I re-injured mine on the bleep test  ;D LOL.  See what they say after you have had your intense physio but don't rush things and you don't want to stuff up the good work so far.

Good luck with it.
