Heard of Dr. Toth at Duke Univ???
« on: August 12, 2003, 07:09:38 PM »
I finally have an appt set up to see this specialist there...she's supposed to specialize in female sports injuries.  I was supposed to have an appt w/ Feagin but he's no longer there, so my doc wants me to go to Dr. Toth.  Has anyone had any experiences w/ her before?  I have no idea about any of the drs at Duke.  All I do know though is that the receptionist doesn't make you feel good b/c she was pretty rude and not very welcoming/comforting.  I don't wanna drive all the way to Duke for nothing, hopefully something will turn out good with Dr. Toth and nothing will get blown off.

Thanks!

Hey there.  I just wanted to let you know that the Doctor's at Duke have awesome reputations (there are a lot).  I have traveled up there myself (2.5 hour drive one way) and saw Dr. Almekinders.  He is very realistic and so very knowledgeable. Very serious too, I like Dr's that joke with you though.

Don't judge the doctor on their hired help. Receptionists don't always remember that they are representing the company/practice. I wish you lots of luck and hope that you do indeed make the trip to visit this new OS.

One more thing, This is the only doctor I have found so far that is optomistic about fixing patella baja (low riding/locking kneecap).  So they are very skilled at what they do.  I hope your visit goes well and you get the help you need.

Hi Laura.

I've found a good way to read up on a prospective doctor is to do a google search with keywords:  say in your case, Toth, Duke, Orthopedics.  Using those words, I pulled up a bunch of entries, including a press release about Dr. Allison Toth (the same one?) Here is a link to that page:  http://dukemednews.duke.edu/news/article.php?id=3732

Heather, I have posted in the soft-tissue section about patella baja surgeries...could you have a look there and let me know what your doctor said?  Thanks!

Hey thanks so much!  Yeah I wasnt judgin the doc by the receptionist...I wouldnt do that, but I was just saying as a side note, that she kinda sorta wasnt so friendly...maybe she just had a bad day, who knows?

I actually had an appt for this coming Monday, but I didn't think my insurance stuff would get worked out by then, and it did last minute...but I had already cancelled my appt.  So I have to reschedule...and my OS now says he really wants me to see this Dr. Toth.  And the more I hear about patella baja, the more I get the feeling it's me, maybe mixed with something else?

Hopefully I'll soon figure it out.  I'll be updating whenever I hear.
