notchplasty
« on: October 04, 2008, 10:53:05 AM »
Hello its good to be back, I need help please, ive just had a notchplasty on my knee, due to a failure to cover the medial anterior tibial plateau. The procedure was done via an open arthrotomy. The Medial meniscus was advanced and reattached with vicryl stiches. Question- Is a notchplasty a transplant of bone and tissue?. Trufit plugs were also considered but not used due to the location! Can anyone help please ???

hi,
i had a notchplasty with my last ACL reconstruction, and also tried looking for info about what it was, but couldnt find too much! however, i understood it to be the removal of some of the bone around the notch where the Cruciate ligaments are in the knee so that they have room to move through the knees ROM.
could this be it?
hope you are ok after your surgery  :)

Vicky, thanks for this, I had the same problem trying to get more info on this subject. I had my PCL reconstructed 3 years ago, the knee is better each day the main pain from the op site (12 stiches over the knee cap) now in a trom brace. Thanks for your reply. Buster :)
