post op swelling and pain
« on: September 03, 2008, 09:16:28 AM »
hi.
i am 4 weeks and 2 days post op and have a swolen knee which is still painful.
i would expect the pain but a fairly large amount of swelling at this point around the upper part of the knee, is this normal?
the pysio says not to worry, i am doing the excercises for ROM bike, squats etc, but the swelling concerns me

any  advice?

hi, i think i read your post on the cruciate section too
i dont think you should worry yet, 4 weeks is really early on, and when you consider what was done, it not much of a surprise it is still swollen and sore! its quite normal.
are you icing, and resting with the leg up? this should help, it does with me! (5 weeks post op revision hamstring graft)
just continue with this, maybe ease up on the excercises a bit until the swelling is down a bit, and keep an eye on it. try not to worry too much about it!

hope its all going well apart from the swelling!  :)
