Large Lump Around Screw Site - 2-3 Years After ACL Surgery

Hi There,

I recently posted about something protruding from the screw site on my knee (I thought it was the screw itself).

Since then the lump has grown three fold and has become very painful (in my knee and down my shin).

I have had an Xray today and the nothing is visible (so not bone or screw). The lump is directly at the exit point of the drill hole (visible on the Xray).

I am due to see the OS next week.

Has anyone got any idea what this is??

Hello there,

I developed a blister (for want of a better word) around a screw site, nothing showed on the Xray but it was there all right, had the screw removed and the problem was fixed.  Maybe yours is similar, like an abcess?  I'm only guessing, just wanted to let you know that not everything that's wrong shows up on an xray, maybe an ultrasound should be your next step.
