Hurt knee playing basketball
« on: August 20, 2008, 04:55:49 AM »
I injured my knee about 6 weeks ago playing basketball. Someone undercut me and I landed in an awkward position and my knee felt like it twisted and stretched ???. My knee was hurting a lot but there was no swelling. So I went to a hospital where they did an X-ray and the doctor told me I had a grade 1 MCL sprain. He told me it should be fine in a week and to come back if it's still hurting. After a few visits back to the hospital I was referred to an orthopedic specialist. He basically told me that my joint is fine and the ligament is fine and that I stretched the ligament and don't play any sports on it for a few weeks.

So here I am, after 6 weeks and I still have a lot of pain when I straighten my leg, I am unable to bend my leg completely, and I limp when I walk. Has anyone had this happen to them before? How long did it take to heal? Are there any exercises that I can do to help it heal faster?

Go back and get a referal for PT. They say a MCL should be healed after 6 weeks. ButcCan take longer time also. An ordinary x-ray doesn't reveal all damages, just bones.
Surgery 6 times left knee torn meniscus, RSDS,chondromalacia, nervdamage cause constant nervpain, chronic inflamm.
Spinaldamage wheeler 100%.
Right knee damaged aug-06, use brace surgery 4/9-07.LCL tear.

I feel the most pain directly under my kneecap. Is that where the MCL is?
