Torn Patella Tendon- Surgery???
« on: August 12, 2008, 09:12:21 PM »
Hi all-

Seems I have done it again.  My right patella tendon has an 80% tear.  The OS tells me it can  heal on its own in about 8 wks or surgery and back to normal in about 2 wks.  My question is how bad is the surgery. Should I just wear my brace and suffer for the 8 wks instead of having another surgery?  I think it will depend on how bad I hear the surgery is.

Thanks
becky

Do a search on ruptured patella tendon and you will find lots of info.

There is a very big thread in the Muscle and Tendon section. From what I have read 2 weeks sounds very very optimistic for recovery from patella tendon surgery, especially as you have an 80% tear. Remember this tendon has a lot of stress going through it under normal conditions, let alone recovery from surgery.

Good luck
