Patella subluxation on 7 year old
« on: August 09, 2008, 06:24:57 AM »
My daughter is scheduled for her second knee surgery.  She has a shallow groove on the lateral left knee--result is total subluxation.  We had a medial hamstring "lasso" two years ago.  The surgery they are advising is stated as follows.  Lateral retinaculear release, medial capsular reefing and medial displacement of infrapatellar tendon insertion.

I'm wondering if a groove building up would be more beneficial.  There is a large inward left hip rotation that is aggrivating the problem.

Any idea? ???

Hi there,

I had a trochleoplasty about 3 months ago, which deepens the groove the knee cap sits in as mine was very flat. It seems to have made a big difference.

Not sure about kids having so much surgery at such a young age. I think they normally like to do this kind of op till you are at least 18.
